After we loaded up 6 Surveyors and 5 people into our trailer towing SUV (both of which were loaned to us, thanks again), we took off on 2 days of driving. 20 hours of road time later and we arrived to our home base for the next several days near Emporia, Kansas.
The weather says there is a strong chance of rain, and the odd thing is we can see the storms everywhere around us. But no rain where we are. So, we took the chance, unloaded the bikes from our trailer, and headed out for a sampling of Kansas gravel.
The roads are everything you have heard. Long views of rolling dirt roads and green farm fields, 360° views of big sky (and what looks like storms, sun and tornadoes all in eyeshot) and what seems to be never ending options of directions to ride.
And the good news, we avoided the storms. Not a single drop fell on us, but the distant clouds made for and epic backdrop.
